Importance of Wearing the Right Bra

Do you know a good bra of the correct fit is essential to a woman's breast? Majority of women are still unaware that they are not wearing the right bra.

Women today should be aware that wearing the wrong bra size could cause all sorts of medical problems. Some of these symptoms includes backache, shoulder pain, neck ache, tender, aching bust, soreness under bust, grooves in shoulders, and bad posture.

Because you either have too much bust or not enough. 'We are never happy with our lot.' These are just a few of the very real problems that can be put right with a good bra. There are so many women out there buying their bras assuming that their size is the same or some guesses their bra size and without trying them on or seeking expert advise. The result is usually more discomfort. The most common complaints are

1. the back riding up,
2. straps slipping off the shoulders,
3. wrinkled cups,
4. unsightly bumps and ridges.

Better fitting bras not only feel comfortable but also help your clothes to look better. A well-fitted bra is similar to a pair of well-fitting shoes. Women should re-measured regularly especially during pregnancy, following childbirth, weight loss or weight gain - as the breast size can change dramatically.

The advantages of a correct fit bra includes no more soreness under the bust, pulling the back down, lifting the shoulder swaps and popping back in what has flowed out, making four boobs.

It takes an expert eye to find the size and style that will make the very best of each woman's figure. It also required in-depth knowledge of the wide variety of bras now available. Although manufacturers use what appears to be standard sizing on their labels, every bra is in fact slightly different. This means that a particular cup size in one style may not give you the right fit with another style or manufacturer.

Measuring your bra size and bra cup of exact fit is not difficult, however most women find it unnecessary and a nuisance. This is the major mistake as a good fitted bra brings about many benefits and eliminates unnecessary aliments. The following is some information for you while taking the measurement for yourself.

Your bra size consist of two figures; your back size and your cup. You will need to take two measurements using a tape measure.

Back Size : The measurement is taken around the body directly under the bust or your breasts (over your present bra).

Especially when buying a strapless bra, the bra has to fit slightly tighter but not too tight otherwise unsightly bulges would be formed. Use the following table to find your exact bra size.

Back Measurement (cms) Bra back size
63 - 67 30
68 - 72 32
73 - 77 34
78 - 82 36
83 - 87 38
88 - 92 40

Cup size: this is determined the difference between bra back size and the measurement around the fullest part of the bust.

Calculate the difference of the 2 measurements, rounding it off to the nearest inch. Use the value to find out its corresponding cup size in the table below.

Difference Cup size
1 A
2 B
3 C
4 D
5 E
6 F

After you have obtained both values, combine the two to get your exact fit size.

French Agency Releases Ufo Files: Don't Start Serving The Crepes Just Yet!

CNES and Geipan placed over thirty years worth of UFO investigation materials online as of Thursday, March 22, 2007. CNES is the official French Space Agency and Geipan is an agency of the French National Police. Are the files a hot Smoking Gun, or just another order of cold French Fries?

CNES receives about fifty to one hundred UFO reports each year. The investigative process they use is convoluted and quite different from what most Americans would expect. Geipan apparently does most of the field work, prepares reports and passes everything on to CNES. Scientists and Engineers take a look at that data and prepare some sort of final report or appraisal of the matter in question.

Jacques Patenet, the aeronautical engineer who heads the office for the study of on-identified aerospatial phenomena has said that he data that we are releasing doesn't demonstrate the presence of extraterrestrial beings. But it doesn't demonstrate the impossibility of such presence either. The questions remain open.

On the day of the announcement and press conference, CNES security was tight. While calling the release ?a world first? and glowing over his nation?s openness about the UFO subject, Patenet failed to explain the need o screen out uninvited UFOlogists as an explanation for the added security. This hardly provides evidence for anyone to believe the agency?s files represent a fair and unbias look at the phenomenon. However, compared to the actions of their American counterpart, this is like allowing people to walk into French Intelligence Headquarters and browse through their files.

Every time American UFO Researchers ask their own space agency for any information about astronaut encounters or unusual phenomenon encountered by space probes, NASA clams up and sends out the debunkers en force. Although many Astronauts have been forthcoming and very honest about what they have seen in space, the space agency always slams the door on them. More than a few have been hit right between the eyes by NASA which claims that the Astronaut statements were the results of space sickness, fatigue or depression. But before we give the French too big a pat on the back, let?s look at what?s being released.

The CNES-Geipan reports only represent what people have reported to the French Government as UFO sightings and encounters. This is in no way, shape or form a release of information that allows us to examine all that the French know about the phenomenon. Although the investigations have obviously been handled in a more competent and professional manner, this is really little more than a French version of the U.S. Project Blue Book Report.

We have seen these types of releases before over the past several decades. In each case, the information came from individual government agencies, not the government itself. I recall when everyone got all excited about the release of the KFB files on UFOs. I was unimpressed. That?s because I received official Russian News Articles and private newsletters published in countries once controlled by the Soviets for years before that release. These were sent to me by serious researchers in those countries who appreciated receiving materials from me.

Thanks to the efforts of Russian language students who donated their time, most of what I received was quickly translated and contained a huge amount of information about the UFO phenomenon in Russia and Eastern Europe. Ironically, I could not find a single incident mentioned in those articles and newsletters that matched any in the KGB information releases. I felt then and now that the information I received from those individuals was as good or better than most of what was released by the KGB.

In 1989 I had the opportunity to meet Marina Lavrentrevna Vasliyevna Popovich at a press event in New York City. Marina was a pilot in the Soviet Air Force, holder of thirteen world aviation records and a former Test Cosmonaut. She spoke of personal UFO encounters and those she had heard about from other pilots. While the information was fascinating, it was not anywhere near the best that her government had to offer about UFOs and Extra-Terrestrial Life. UFO Researchers would be wise to view the CNES-Geipan information in the same manner.

Like America, France is known for having two faces. Their public face, and the one they use for behind the scenes political posturing. A good example of this recently came to light when it a secret communication between France and Israel was leaked to the press. While publicly condemning Israel?s advance into Lebanon not long ago, the French Government secretly encouraged them to invade Syria and institute a regime change. The USA plays the same games.

During the 1990s, President Clinton announced that the government had allowed secret radiation tests on American Citizens. All he admitted was that small amounts of irradiated materials were released into population centers or planted on soldiers during military exercises. No one believes that was all of it and everyone already knew about military exercises held during and very close to atomic bomb tests. Clinton certainly did not make mention of how the CIA implanted tiny devices into the heads of U.S. and Canadian psychiatric patients for over twenty years without permission. Nor did he discuss any of the other government mind control or remote viewing projects which have left large numbers of victims in their wake.

Information releases like the latest from CNES and Geipan can only be helpful in terms of research and data, but no one should give France, Russia or any other nation credit for what should have been done all along. It would be a mistake to offer nations like these kudos for releasing bits and pieces of UFO and other paranormal research data when so much still remains secret.

Don't Get Scammed Buying Breast ... (Review)

Below article is copy from RadioHealth.net which i find interesting and like to share with all ladies out there

Don't Get Scammed Buying Breast Enlargement Products Online

Read this special article before you consider buying breast gain products on the Internet

From the desk of Donna Schwartz (Senior Reviewer)

Sometimes we get interesting assignments at RadioHealth.net...this one is no exception. I was asked to find and test various products that guaranteed an increase in breast size naturally. My first reaction was 'yeah, right'. I was quite skeptical of all the claims that one could increase their breast size by a 'full cup in as little as 30 days' with no surgery and no prescription medication.

Today, as I write this, I'm practically in shock. Not only did I gain a full cup size, it actually took 33 days to achieve the desired result. BUT, it took me a long time and a lot of money to find the right breast enlargement product (I was the victim of several fakes and shady operations until I found the right companies and products).

Initially, because of an error in the address that I submitted when ordering, I was left with a credit card charge and no product and I was at the mercy of a fly-by-night fulfillment operation that didn't know the first thing about customer service. On another occasion, my order was lost (or so I was told) and I never heard from that company again (they've since been put out of business by the FTC). Through all my trials, I was able to conduct extensive research regarding the many companies that sell breast enhancement products online. Needless to say, when I finally gained a full cup size after finding the 'right' product, I was overjoyed and committed to sharing what I found with as many self conscious women as possible. My hope is that you will benefit from my experiences (my list of reputable breast enhancement products appears below).

First, a little background. Over the past 6 years I had actually considered and researched several options to increase my bust (including costly and dangerous surgery...which I thankfully ruled out). I'd spoken with a dozen companies and was looking for assurances that whatever product I chose would not lead to an increase in my overall body weight, or cause me to gain additional weight associated with a lot of herbal formulas on the market. Surprisingly, it was this assignment that led me to 'the holy grail'.

Actually, I'd been self conscious about my bust size since the 8th grade so, when asked to investigate, I immediately ordered several advertised 'magic' pills and tested them methodically. It didn't hurt that I had recently seen a report on natural breast enhancement on Dateline NBC and in USA Today in the same week. Honestly, I was willing to try anyting because, for years, I would wake up every day feeling bad about my breasts (And, yes, I had tried every padded and push-up bra on the market).

With the products that I successfully tested, what you'll notice right away is that you will not increase your overall body weight AND you'll feel better about yourself.

During my months of researching the breast enhancement market online and speaking with company representatives, I came across some very important information that everyone should know before purchasing breast enhancement pills on the Internet.

When you select your breast enlargement product, choose one that has at least 12 all-natural ingredients that are rich in estrogen and human growth hormone stimulation (from plant sources called phytoestrogens; these natural estrogenic compounds help to promote the growth of healthy breast tissue). Don't be fooled by substitute products that claim to be like the products listed below -- many may only contain two to five of the necessary ingredients for guaranteed breast tissue growth.

The products we recommend are the original leaders in this category with nearly 8 years of successful use and a combined 160,000 satisfied customers worldwide.

IMPORTANT: because of the growing awareness and popularity of these miracle herbs, rip-off products that contain very little or no authentic phytoestrogens in them have flooded the marketplace. So.......

Before choosing a breast enhancement product, make sure to ask how long the company has been in business and how many successful cases the product has produced. No products have been more successful in stimulating the growth of breast tissue than those recommended below. Also, insist on no Ephedra, no Ma Huang, and no Ephedrine. And, by all means, do not settle for any company that does not provide discreet shipping and billing worldwide.

Finally, when deciding which products to recommend on RadioHealth.net, we always ask 2 questions:

1. Does the product have a successful track record? (has it worked for us AND are there documented consumer success stories?)

2. Does it come with an iron clad MONEY BACK GUARANTEE and/or free samples?

I'm happy to say that each of the products below passes our test.

All the best.

Signed,

Donna Schwartz

Safe Solo Backpacking Tips

Solo backpacking means peace and quiet. No one to talk to means no words are put between you and the beauty around you. The miles just flow. It's entirely up to you to say when you eat or take a break. Want to jump in that alpine lake? It's your decision alone. It's a unique experience.

A solo backpacker also is vulnerable. Twist your ankle, and there's nobody there to help you. Have you ever been stuck alone without food for days? How can you make your solo backpacking trip safe? You can't. It's inherently more dangerous to go alone into the wilderness. What you can do though, is make it safer.

Some Solo Backpacking Tips

1. Tell someone where you'll be, and when you expect to return. It's probably best if you leave a map with them, and let them know who to call if you don't return on time.

2. Bring a cell phone. I don't do this yet myself, but many lives have now been saved by cell phones. Turn it off and put it in the bottom of your pack so it won't bother you.

3. Bring the usual safety items (matches, 1st aid, iodine tablets, etc), but double-check to see if they are there and in working order, as you'll have nobody elses supplies to back you up.

4. If you're not sure of your abilities, or have a bad knee or other potential problem, stick to well-traveled trails. On many routes, another backpacker will be by every hour. That's good to know if you're in trouble.

5. Learn well how to read a map and use a compass. If you are two miles off route and can't get a signal on your phone when your knee gives out, you're in trouble. Even if you like to wander, you should be able to know where you are on the map for safety.

6. Know your abilities. Don't plan on twenty-mile days if you haven't done them before.

7. Learn to lighten your load. When you're alone, you lose the efficiency of sharing the load for stoves, tents and other common items. It's easy - and dangerous - to become overloaded when yours is the only backpack. You might want to read up on ultralight backpacking.

Solo backpacking is riskier, but for some of us, it's well worth the risk. Try it, and you might agree. Just be sure to take the necessary precautions.

How Important Is A Golf Fitness Program Mike PedersenA golf fitness program can make the difference between you optimizing your golf potential or playing the same frustrating golf you may be used to playing.

Its no secret that the body swings the club and plays the gameso why wouldnt you consider a golf fitness program to play your best?

A golf fitness program consists of strength, flexibility, endurance and even nutrition. But the big difference is making your golf fitness program as golf-specific as you can.

How do you do that?

First offjust take a look at the position your body is in during the golf swing. Its on your feet and in golf posture (bent at the waste, knees flexed, upper back fairly straight, ankles flexed, etc).

Can you now see how any physical limitation you have will dramatically affect your ability to make a sound, repeatable golf swing?

So the answer is definitely starting a golf fitness program. Its not as intimidating as you may think. It doesnt take going to a gym. It doesnt involve lifting heavy weights and really killing yourself. It doesnt involve 2 hours every day of the week either.

A golf fitness program can be as simple as using a pair of hand weights (dumbbells), an exercise ball and exercise tubing. All very inexpensive, portable and perfect for your home or even your office.

You can take your exercise tubing, attach it to a door and make downswings every day of the week. This is a great exercise to sneak in at your office that will have a direct impact on the power you produce through impact.

Designing a complete golf fitness program will take a little more creativity. I would strongly recommend pursuing a qualified golf fitness trainer to put together a complete golf fitness program that addresses your specific physical limitations.

You dont want to waste your time on exercises and stretches you dont need to do. You want to focus on a balanced golf fitness program that will improve your weaknesses.

You will be amazed how quickly your game will turn around. Ive worked with golfers who have seen improvements in a matter of days! Literally! Their fitness had declined so much they couldnt even get the ball airborne off the tee and within days were hitting it dozens of yards further.

What a joy to hear stories like that!

You too can see some huge improvements if you start your golf fitness program right away!

Ebay and Auctions Getting Started With Ebay

One of the myths with online businesses is that you can start them without any investment. That is simply not true because every business requires some investment to start properly. The good thing about the internet is that you can start with a very low investment but do not expect this to be zero.

The first place is your own home. Go through the garage, basement, closet and other locations looking for what you do not need. If something qualifies as junk then rethink it, maybe it is not junk to someone else. If something is worthless in your opinion you might still get a reasonably good price for it on eBay. This is perhaps the easiest way to make money using eBay. Always take a good picture of the item before listing it because listings with pictures get better bids. Then you must write a good description for the listing and set a low opening bid. You could be making hundreds of dollars like this and there is hardly any work involved.

Selling eBooks is another great way to making money through eBay. These books sell quickly. You simply need to find a topic you are good at and write a book. Even if it is something as simple as fixing a computer, changing hard drive partitions, or tinkering with household items or cars, fishing, sports, literally anything that you are good at can be presented and sold in the form of an eBook.

Another thing is to become an auction manager. Some people have great stuff but shy away from auctions. If you can do the job for them then you can earn a good commission per sale.

Childhood Obesity: Don't Let Your Kids Get Fat

Research has shown that overweight kids usually turn into overweight adults. Not only that, it has also been shown that people who were overweight in childhood are far more likely to suffer from life-threatening conditions like cardiac disease and cancer. Additionally, some teenagers are developing type 2 diabetes, sometimes called late onset diabetes as it affects people in middle age.

The damage of childhood obesity can cause emotional and psychological problems too. Obesity makes children a target for all kinds of bullying at school, both physical and psychological. They tend to do less well at sports, may have fewer friends than thinner children and so become isolated and solitary.

Because of all this, it is obvious that allowing your children to put on excess weight is the unkindest thing you can do either in the short or long term but how do you avoid it?

  • Start young: as soon as your children start to be weaned, don't train

them to prefer sweet foods. Never give them candy or desserts as a treat or

    reward.

  • Don't give babies that are being weaned the sweet commercial desserts,

mash up a banana instead or stew an apple without sweetening it too much.

  • Don't assume that because you like sweetened drinks like coffee or tea that

you must put sugar in your children's drinks too. It is far better to get

them accustomed to drinking them unsweetened.

  • Get your children in the habit of eating breakfast. It is the one meal of

the day we should all eat. A good breakfast would be something like cereal

(no added sugar) and milk with some fresh fruit chopped up and mixed in or

eaten separately. Eat it with a glass of real orange juice (unsweetened) and

    a milky drink.

  • Children should avoid fast foods like burgers, fries and fried chicken.

Freshly cooked food with portions of fruit and vegetables are much better.

Do not allow your children to develop the fast food habit--it is much easier

than trying to break the habit later.

Good Food for Kids

  • Milk
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Eggs
  • Wholemeal bread
  • Unsweetened cereals
  • Fish and lean meat
  • Cheese

Exercise

Although diet plays a large part in childhood obesity, lack of exercise

can also be important. Here are some tips for getting your kids to take more

exercise.

  • Whenever possible, your children should walk to and from school rather than

    ride in the car.

  • Get a dog and make it your children's responsibility to walk it if they

are old enough. If they are too young, make it a regular part of the routine

for you and the kids to walk the dog (the exercise will do you good too!).

  • If you don't want or can't have a dog, make regular visits to a local park

where your children can play ball, use slides and swings or just run around and have fun.

  • Allow time at weekends for the whole family to spend time on enjoyable physical

activity like going swimming, walking, cycling, etc.

  • At Christmas and birthdays, don't just give your kids computer games, give

them a football, cricket, baseball bat, or other sporting equipment, anything that gives them an

incentive to get out and play.

  • Encourage your children to join a sports club or team--football, baseball,

cricket, judo, karate, athletics, it doesn't matter as long as it demands

    physical activity.

  • You might also want to think about taking the whole family on activity vacations.

Instead of lying on a beach, why not take a vacation backpacking, horse riding

    or yachting?

The most important thing is to build a foundation, as young as possible, of an appreciation for good nutritious food and a love of physical activity. Your children won't suffer if they aren't addicted to sweet food or hamburgers and prefer a piece of fruit to a piece of candy.

Plus Size Women Deserve Sexy Lingerie Too

If you are a plus size woman it does not mean that you should not wear sexy lingerie or mini dresses. On the contrary if you get a plus size bra and panties set you will feel more sexy and first of all more self confident. Being a plus size does not mean being ugly. In fact there are a lot of men who prefer dating a plus size woman rather than a very thin woman. A plus size woman tends to have more voluptuous forms thus a nice sexy piece of lingerie like babydolls mini dress or a lace see-through night gown can make her even sexier and with a lot more sex appeal than a skinny woman with no accentuated shapes.

There are more and more women who realize than being a plus size is not the end of the world. Thus they become more confident in their sex appeal and want to be able to wear the same designs and models of lingerie created by famous brands like Victoria's Secret, Felina, Playtex, Warner's, Wacoal or Jennifer Lopez JLO. Fortunately for them most of the online stores that offer lingerie, offer plus sizes.

Women's lingerie in larger plus sizes can be very hard to find in your local mall. Online lingerie and intimates catalog stores by far have the best selection of sexy styles, colors, and larger sizes. The ultimate goal in purchasing lingerie for yourself is that you feel sexy and comfortable with your beautiful fuller figure. Perhaps that style will be a understated baby doll silk or sheer nightie or maybe a sexy exotic lingerie costume. Learn more about the lingerie styles available in plus sizes for just about any occasion.

Now that you are decided to buy plus size lingerie that will make you feel sexy here are a few things to take into consideration. First of all you can buy it online from the intimacy of your house thus avoiding mean looks or comments. The most important thing is to buy bras and panties that are comfortable for you. You can choose any type of material you want, but there are a few tricks about the color and the design of the products. For example a one piece body will make you look slimmer. The same effect if true if you wear single color lingerie.

If you like bright color or animal print patterns make sure the bra you buy fits you perfectly and it is not tight. The same is valid for any pairs of panties or briefs. A smaller size will only make you look bigger, and a bigger size that you usually wear will have the same effect. If you are not 100 percent decided to buy plus size lingerie here are a few more motives that will convince you. First of all a man has more to see from a plus size woman when she wears sexy lingerie. Also online you can find all kinds of designs that can help you draw attention on the best part of the body.

The best part about lingerie is that no matter what size you need, you only need to buy it for your personal use and for your significant other's eyes. And for sure you know by now that he doesn't care that you are a plus size, so why not offer him some unforgettably sexy moments with you dressed in sexy dresses, babydolls mini outfits and other lingerie.

Jessica and Alan Katz own Lingerie Exposure. They do research for lingerie items that are most in demand and negotiate price so you can get the styles you want at the prices you'll love. Want to see these wonderful deals?

The Existence Or Absence Of ADHD Helpfull Behavioral Interventions

It is not compulsory for any very active person, which lacks attention or proves himself/herself impulsive to be affected by ADHD. It is difficult even for the specialists to determine whether is ADHD,considering that many healthy people may be distracted, may forget things or speak too much spontaneously in certain situations.

The fact that various people present characteristics of such behavior ,the establishment of the diagnoses must be demonstrated in relation to the age of the person in question. There are settled guidelines and requirements to identify a genuine case of ADHD. The specific behavioral features appear in this case from childhood ,in the first seven years of life ,and continuously manifest for 6 months. A real handicap must be generated in at least 2 important fields: school, family, friends, community, society to recognize the disease. In absence of this handicap, even if the person shows other symptoms,it is not ADHD. Not any normal, energetic child should receive this diagnosis.

A series of critical questions require answers,to determine the existence or the absence of the disease:whether the behavioral features are in excess, persistent and long-termed,whether they are more present than in other children of that age ,whether the problem is a permanent one ,whether the place determines one specific behavior. These answers will be confronted to the criteria of the DSM-IV-TR.

Few Simple Behavioral Interventions

In order to provide the needed help to children with ADHD in organizing, the following actions should be taken into consideration:

Providing a schedule. Creating a routine every day, from wake-up time to bedtime. A variety of actions should be included in the schedule, homework time and playtime, both outdoor and indoor activities. The schedule will be placed on the refrigerator or a bulletin board where it can be easily seen. Changes in that schedule will be announced long time before they will take place. Writing down the assignment is important. Also, using organizers for the homework, books and notebooks may come in handy, the daily needed items. Have a designated place for everything and keep everything in its place: backpacks, school supplies, clothing, etc.

Some rewards, praises, as well as critics, are needed every time the well established rules are understood and followed or not followed.

Finding the Best Budget Car Seat

Picking a car seat for your new infant is one of the most critical choices you will make for your child's early safety. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that a properly installed child safety car seat in a passenger car can reduce the risk of fatal injury to infants by 71 percent, and to toddlers by 54 percent. In fact, many states and provinces insist that children be transported in an appropriate car seat. Check your local regulations before choosing a car seat, and be aware that you may need to purchase more than one car seat to meet your child's needs as he or she grows.

Car seat retailers offer a variety of car seat choices in different price points. As long as the car seat meets with the governing regulations, it will be safe (even budget models) - although there are different car seat styles and perks that may influence your decision on which car seat model to purchase.

The term car seat can refer to an infant-only car seat, an infant/child car seat, or an infant/child/booster car seat. An infant car seat is rear facing, and has height and weight restrictions of approximately 26 inches or 20 lbs; your car seat manual will provide specific restrictions. Your infant car seat can be installed permanently in your vehicle, or used as a removable carrier with a car seat base - a popular option for parents adjusting to life with a fragile new baby. Infant/child car seats can be used in a rear-facing position for infants, and in forward-facing mode for toddlers. The infant/child/booster car seat is used for older children who are not yet tall enough to use an adult seatbelt safely.

All three car seat configurations are available in most department stores, including discount retailers. It's a good idea to compare the features of each car seat before deciding on a particular car seat model.

Here are some tips to finding a great car seat:

* Look for a car seat with a small 'footprint' to ensure a proper fit in compact vehicles;
* Car seat covers come in a variety of fabrics. Dark colors hide stains well and work well for both boys and girls;
* Many car seat packages include accessories like toys and cup holders. Ensure these extras are worth the higher price the car seat is likely to command;
* Purchasing a 'travel system' with car seat and coordinating stroller tends to be less expensive than buying both pieces separately. This may be good value if you need both a car seat and a stroller.

It is also possible to buy a used car seat, although this should be done with caution to avoid buying a car seat that is too old (they have an expiry date), or one that has been damaged in an accident.

Regardless of whether you buy a new car seat or a used car seat, it is imperative to ensure the car seat meets safety standards, and to check with the manufacturer to determine if there have been any problems or recalls with the car seat you have for your child. Remember, safety first!

More Cash From Your Real Estate

Real estate. . . No matter what kind you own or want to buy it?s still an investment. In fact, many people buy and sell real estate as a business and I?m not talking brokers or agents here. You know who they are. They?re the ones who tell you about a deal they just did and boy did they ever make a bundle on it! How?d they do that? They made the property look good. It?s what buyers interested in. How a property looks. So you see curb appeal really IS important.

Curb appeal takes a lot into consideration: Paint, siding, windows, doors, roofing, driveways, and yes, landscaping. How many times have you driven past a property for sale and said to yourself: ?That landscaping is really ugly. Why doesn?t somebody do something about it?? I know I have. If you?ve bought real estate as an investment, did you concentrate on improving the landscaping or somewhere else first? Most leave the landscaping ?till last or just don?t do anything to it at all. Rumor has it, though, between 20 and 30% of the value of a property is in the landscaping. And it doesn?t matter if it?s income, industrial, commercial, or residential property either. Landscaping plays a big part in curb appeal and value of your investment. It can even draw customers to your business.

Let?s say that there were two homes for sale right next to each other. One looked great and the other looked lousy. It doesn?t matter what shape the inside is in, people still look at the outside and determine the value. Guaranteed, the one with the better landscaping will command a higher price and probably sell faster. What would you do if you bought the one with the lousy landscaping? Leave it for the next guy or make it look nice. If you were going to turn it and get your price, rent it out, or keep it as an investment you?d be putting something into the landscaping if you were smart. Admittedly, I?ve bought on potential and just sat on the property, but, sooner or later I had to pay to get the landscaping done. You better believe that landscaping looked great before it went on the market. And I got my price!

When I was going to list one of my properties my broker told me: ?You?ll never sell it for that much? and I proved him wrong. I didn?t understand why he was so reluctant to list at my price. I figured he was just going to make more on the sale if he did. Besides, I thought, we could have dropped the price if it didn?t sell, right? Well, he didn?t see what this place was going to look like like I could in my mind. Anyway, the landscaping wasn?t going to be done until after I listed it. Now if I could have shown him what it was GOING to look like, maybe he would have agreed with me on the listing price. And if I just could have shown him in 3-D what the place was going to look like he, and the landscaper, would?ve had a better idea where I was going with it. They probably would have helped me with a few suggestions to increase the value while saving some money on the landscaping, so, I probably would have made a little more on it than I did.

People know what?s goin? on. It?s better to start with the outside. Shows pride of ownership, care for the neighborhood, for them, smart thinking, and being serious. Improves comps and re-finance values, too! So, at the very least, get a 3-D landscape plan either before you close the deal or right after you do so you can show your broker, landscaper, appraiser, and re-financing specialist what your real estate deal will look like when you?re done with it. Did you know that if you?re planning on re-financing, your appraiser will include the landscaping as part of the value of your property? It?s a win-win situation. You get more cash because you up?d the value of your investment by improving the landscaping. And more for you is always good, right?

ATTRACTING WHAT YOU WANT (Part 3 of 4) Time Vs Effort

ATTRACTING SUCCESS (Part Three) (How you can attract personal & professional prosperity)

Time Vs Effort

Let me start this penultimate part of your journey by saying the following??Most people are under the illusion that the amount of time you have lived with a problem has something to do with the effort and time that is required to change or remove a given problem.? This has nothing to do with the law of attraction, it is an ?idea? you and others have grown up with but has no BASIS IN REALITY.

With such phrases as ?No pain, no gain? or ?Up hill struggle? they are both metaphors for people whose underlying focused and predominate thought is one of struggle. As we have said before, if it is a struggle you want then ?Your wish is my command?

I have been a life-coach and hypnotherapist and studied NLP for over 12 years and in that time I have asked smokers, phobia sufferers and people with eating disorders the same question. ?Do you think the perceived severity of your problem has anything to do with the amount of time and effort it takes to remove it??

Not surprisingly some of the clever ones click almost immediately and smile. Many unfortunately answer with a simple yes and go on to inform me of all the negative things in their life. This gives the underlying emotional fuel the frequency of the predominate thought, in this case a continued struggle will manifest.

Smokers are a great example because if I take the 80 per day man, smoking for 30 years he will have an imagined fear so large it takes almost an hour to turn it around. Most of what we worry about does not exist and of those things that should get our attention we ignore (thus causing more problems).

It is a simple matter to get your head around the fact that ?Your present circumstances reflect your underlying present feelings.? As I have stated previously, the law of attraction always works in the same way. The mistake many people make is we tend to define ourselves by the current state of our lives. If you do this then by all universal laws you are dooming yourself to repeat those past thinking patterns.

You have the power at any given moment to say to yourself; ?That was the old me, the new me thinks this way.? Believe me when I say the universe will hear what you have got to think and will reply according to your predominate beliefs.

?Where you are in life is not WHO you are.?

Turn that thought around

Here is a wonderful idea for you to run on a weekly basis and it will become fun. In part two I suggested a ?Creation-day out? once a month. This idea can be used in conjunction with that idea?

It does not matter if its work colleagues, partners, children, relatives or friends it works just the same. Go get yourself a little notebook a small one that will fit into your pocket or bag. Find somewhere quiet and have a meeting in the privacy of your own mind with yourself.

You are going to make a list of all the people you know, people that you spend time with even if you don?t really like spending time with them. This is NOT a list of people you like this is a list of people you KNOW.

Start with home and give each person a separate page (you will need it). Now maybe people you work with then people you don?t see very often. You should now have a list of everyone who for good or bad has an influence in some way in your life. It may be that annoying brat at work, it may be your lippy teenage son, it matters not just have them on the list.

My compliments to those who have it in mind to do this and the other ideas I gave in the last two parts. What happens now is based on the law of attraction, remember your focused underlying predominate thought or feeling creates your world.

Take each person and give them space for a few moments in the privacy of you mind. They stand before you in your imagination with an open heart and mind. In this scenario you don?t ask them questions you sense their positive attributes. Remember your underlying thoughts will create what you feel so make sure they are GOOD.

Take each person and locate something about them YOU LIKE or you can APPRECIATE. It may be the softness of their voice, the dress sense they have, the love of classical/rock or jazz. Maybe you and your partner are not getting on too well at the moment. List as many POSITIVE traits or things you like about them, leave the negative sewage in the past.

Do this with even the pain-in-the-asses at work or down the local club, bar, sports centre or where ever you go. Now here is the fun part and one I particularly like. It is your goal over the next week to get everyone on that list to say ?Thank-you? to you at least once. You got it yet? Using the law of attraction and this as your goal EVERY WEEK, WEEK IN WEEK OUT in one month I would like to hear how much your WORLD HAS CHANGED. How easy is that to do and yet make changes you could not dream of (since you?re too wrapped up in negative projections). It requires no real effort, no brains and since you already know them all virtually no work. Here is a tip to fill your ?Thank-you? quota fast find something unique about them to compliment them on.

Over the next month you can secretly tick each time you get a thank you from anyone on the list. If you meet someone new, add them to the list and start ticking away. You are creating all around you what I like to call?

?AN ATTITUDE OF GRATTITUDE?

The power is in emotional content

By far the strongest element in the universal law of attraction is your emotional connection to a thought. It is the feeling part of the creative process be it a memory or a projection of what you want for the future. This is why in part two you have to go out and be in the house of your dreams, see hear, smell and feel what WILL BE SO.

The more real you can make it the stronger and louder your emotional universal pulsed frequency will be. As I have said before you do not have to know how the universe does what it does, all you have to supply is the thought with sufficient strength of belief.

As Albert Einstein once said; ?Imagination is the preview of life?s coming attractions.? May I just add it also applies to coming negative distractions if you think that way.

You must believe you deserve success?I mean really believe and to do that you have to love and respect yourself. Believe me when I say that if you play the ?Thank-you? game long enough RESPECT will be a wonderful side-effect!

You really are the solutions to your own problems.

We all understand (I hope) that we are all as much a part of nature as everything else on this planet. We may not think we deserve to be but then that?s our problem not the universes. Many people talk and play music to their plants and the results have been scientifically proven. Give the right ?food? to any living organism and it will flourish. We would not consider giving poison to our plants, pets or children yet we inject negative thoughts and feeling regularly into our own psych.

Our journey through life is simply to feel good by doing this we do good, there is no need to want or need control, you already have all the control you need. Once we all begin to understand that we have no need to control anyone or anything fear is dissolved.

The final part of my look at the law of attraction asks the most important question.

?Why is war allowed to exist??

We conclude this four-part summation with a global perspective and begin part four with the immortal words of Mother Theresa?see you there.

Lakefront Property

Lakefront property is land that is on the border of a lake. It is a highly valued type of property, in that there is a limited amount of lakefront, and a large group of people who would like to own it. The pleasure of having a home on the water so you can enjoy this serene beauty is incomparable. And this is one reason why owning lakefront property is so desirable. Any property along the borders of a lake is referred to as lakefront property.

The allure of lakefront property is partially due to the fact that one can go water skiing, fishing, hiking, sailing, boating and canoeing whenever they choose. Also, the scenic beauty offers a calm atmosphere. Lakefront property is considered a valuable asset, which can also be rented out or be used as collateral for a loan. A lakefront property should be looked upon as an investment, providing years of fun and family vacation.

On the other hand, some shortcomings are that many lakefront properties are jointly owned, and jointly utilized. These result in more disputes and clashes than other properties. In case of safety issues, there is always danger associated with drowning, fast boats or diving into shallow water. The lakefront property owners also have to pay higher taxes than other property owners. The maintenance costs are very high, as the lakefront property has to be kept clean. However, when it comes to price, the cost of land next to a lake can be expensive, but the memories that you will be left with will be priceless.

Lakefront Property provides detailed information on Lakefront Property, Michigan Lakefront Property, Lakefront Property For Sale, Wisconsin Lakefront Property and more. Lakefront Property is affiliated with Lake Havasu City.

Buying Cheap Real Estate Properties At State Auctions

State auctions are becoming more and more common nowadays. People meet up and convene during these social functions to see what the state government has to offer to the public.

Some people are particularly keen on state real estate properties, because they always equate such assets to profits and ideal locations and values.

That is why state auctions for real estate properties are almost always jam-packed. Most traders, buyers and investors flock such occasions to be able to peek at potential and promising properties that could also be significant investments

Here are some useful ideas and guidelines that could help you make it through and get away with real estate property auctions in the state level.

1. The real estate property is an investment so treat it as such. That means, expect volatile prices. Seek advice and gather expert opinion about a particular real estate asset you might want to make an eye at.

2. Seek the professional help, advice or opinion of a broker or an agent. Usually, these middlemen gets the transaction going, meaning all the other aspect of the sale and acquisition would be taken care of. You just have to place the funding, pay commission and voila, you are there, the estate is yours. Saves time and effort.

3. Evaluate and assess the overall state of the real estate property for sale. It would be easy to assess whether the pricing justifies the sale of the property.

4. Keep an eye on details of the transaction, like the payment terms. Usually, real estate transactions are priced 20% to 30% more if the payment term is installment and spread throughout some period of time.

5. Never keep your eye off the price tag if you are looking and considering the real estate property. Sometimes, there are aspects or areas that you might see really appealing, but in reality, the shortcomings and imperfections are far more and would greatly offset the desired qualities. Be realistic.

Buying real estate properties is never a hard task. Just be sure the ideas and concepts you have in mind are still intact. And that you will be focused all throughout the process. Otherwise, seek professional help or consider buying properties through other venues.

How to Jump Over The Most Common Real Estate Pitfalls

Is it really smart to invest in real estate? Who can know for sure? Like any forms of investment, there are risks to consider. When the good outweighs the bad, then perhaps, putting money in real estate is a good way to start building up your investment portfolio.

How can we know which way to go? Real estate experts have identified major pitfalls to avoid if investing in real estate is what appeals to you:

Do not bank on intuition.

Intuition is defined as hindsight, or an inherent inner warning, that oftentimes does not veer towards the positive but leans on the unexplainable feeling of doom. Most people would sell their homes based on a pessimistic feeling that the real estate market will soon crash, or the long-perceived real estate bubble is beginning to burst, hence the sooner they sell their properties at prices they can still command, the better.

Most likely, the worse case scenario never happens. Panic paralyzes the mind from thinking logically through a situation, thus, past experiences are forgotten. When real estate prices do slide, they don?t happen overnight. Unlike stock market positioning where prices can nose-dive drastically, real estate values may only suffer a decline, but not a total burn-out. Those who sell their homes with the prospect of making a profit on it while they still can, and purchase another, when real estate prices slide are heading towards being homeless, or into rental homes themselves.

Look at the odds: selling your home will displace your family for a while, it will cost you your agent?s commission, new mortgage rates may even be higher than the previous ones you were paying, the inconvenience of moving and leaving a familiar neighborhood, including other attendant costs. In the end, your calculator will register a deficit rather than profit!

Keep a discerning mind; do not believe everything you read.

That value of real estate properties will always go up is more of an illusion, rather than fact. This line of thought is dangerous as it wafts ?speculative? investing ? a financial stratagem that can be potentially profitable but very risky. This can imperil your good investment approaches. Real estate agents are moved by the prospect of earning commissions, naturally, they will outsell one another by sales pitches that can close the deal.

Quandary with Rentals.

Purchasing properties with the prospect of renting them out is sound, however when this is done during an economic slump, this may jeopardize your investment.

When real estate foreclosures are high, some investors take it as a good sign for renting out properties. Some may experience demand, but oftentimes people move away when they lose jobs. By the law of supply and demand, when there are few renters, rents will plunge.

Avoid risky loans like a plague!

Mortgage loans come in many options, can be all attractive, but caution should be exercised. As in all things, not everything that sparkles is gold.

Interest-Only Mortgages don't demand payment of the principal while other mortgage options may require regular payment of the principal, or no payment at all during the early years. But interest rates can increase monthly and the increase can cut deeper on your mortgage. If sufficient payment is not made, your total mortgage loan will cost you more than what you home originally costs.

Keep your investment straight and you have more to keep.

Funding your other investment portfolios with the equity on your home is risky. Same is true with financing second or third mortgages on a property. In the event of payment defaults, equity on such property shall satisfy the loan taken from the first mortgage lender; and any remaining amount, shall be used to satisfy obligations with the subsequent lenders. This, however, rarely happens.

Study. Probe. Evaluate. Do not speculate.

Real Estate Investment is flourishing - a sign that it is a profitable venture. No wonder, real estate industry remains a formidable choice among those who want to get a crack on the fortune pie. Having identified the common pitfalls in real estate investing will narrow down the margin of those who ventured but lost, and jumpstart the prospects of those who want to make it big.

The Evolution Of Video Game Characters

In the early days, and I mean the really early days of home video games, you had Pong: two bars, one square ball and that?s it. It was a very simple concept that anyone could literally figure out within seconds. Even more elementary than that was the fact that there were no characters, no plot, no storyline, no real purpose of the game, except to bump and bash that cubed ball back and forth. While Pong was a nice recreational distraction and diversion from the boredom of everyday life ? and back then, Pong was a big deal ? there was no real vested interest in the game once the video game system was shut off. That is to say, Pong was just a game. Nothing more, nothing less.

Fast forward to today, and video games are much more than simply something to play. They are now worlds with people and experiences that gamers get involved in and have serious personal stake in as well. Video game characters, especially, have evolved and grown over the years. While the erstwhile plumber was cute, he wasn?t really endearing. He didn?t say much, his emotions were limited and his experiences were fairly mundane. Heck, in his original solo adventure, he couldn?t even go too far backwards! He was simply the vehicle for which the video game player used to traverse the game.

Now, video game characters are people, with expressions and emotions. They have a history and a purpose. They have a back story, and they are vengeful. They have facial expressions that video game players can relate to. They aren?t just video game characters: they?re tragic heroes and misunderstood villains. They live and work in worlds that are at once foreign to us but recognizable too. Today?s video game characters speak to us, and for us. We want to hear what they say, and see how they act and react. They aren?t just computer generated characters by designers, they are actors, with a script to follow and a mystery to unravel.

The advancement and evolution of video game characters is to be expected, since video games themselves have advanced and evolved. In the old days, video games usually took place in a finite world ? that is to say that a video game player could sort of make out and define where and how the game would and should end. Because of that simplicity, it was easy to figure out what the character should do and be. Today?s video games, like the ones featured on the Xbox 360 or the Sony PSP, take place in immense worlds where a lot of random possibilities can occur. That requires the character in the video game to act and react in ways that we can?t really predict.

Also, today?s modern video game characters can be so likeable and interesting as well. With personalities, emotions and phrasing that can really make people laugh and take interest in the character. And, with cross-media branding being at the forefront of just about everything these days, you can bet that a popular video game with an exceptionally popular main character will be made into a movie, a comic-book or a TV show. While that?s great for media companies looking to make more than just a few extra dollars, it presents a real opportunity to flesh out and give the main character some more depth. Because while today?s video games are impressive in size and scope, they are still video games and they are still limited by its programming and design. But a movie or a TV program can really give new emotions to a character whom in some ways, already seems to be more than human.

An Angel Amidst the Hats

IT was with a heavy heart that I left my favorite lingerer store, Victory?s Secret. It slowly sunk in that I would never again be able to wear their lovely bras. I could not have foreseen on that gloomy day that approximately one year later I would submit a proposal suggesting some innovative ways, or at least I thought so, to create fun, colorful, sexy bras designed especially for older women minus one breast. They declined the offer; nevertheless it was fun dreaming about those pretty bras in my mind?s eye. Back to that gloomy day. As I downcastedly walked toward Macy?s department store to have a look at their hats, I pondered my apparent lack of emotions since my cancer diagnoses as not one tear had yet to fall. Not when I first received the cancer diagnoses, nor during or after the lumpectomy nor the more serious second diagnoses.

Additional cancer was found during the lumpectomy and a mastectomy was highly recommended. First however, there would be more tests. For example, a nuclear bone scan plus a devise called a portacath would be surgericly inserted under the skin in my chest to accommodate the chemotherapy infusion treatments thereby protecting the small unreliable veins in my arms. These procedures would be followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatments. So on this particular day, while trying on hats, endeavoring to distract myself from my imagined future of being relegated to the ugly bra syndrome, a brief but delightful encounter with a perfect stranger occurred.

As I was halfheartedly trying on about the tenth hat, I heard a very soft voice say ?why you look beautiful in that hat?. To my astonishment I found myself blubbering that in a few more weeks I would be totally bald resulting from chemotherapy treatments. Without a moments hesitation she stepped close to me and pulled me into her arms. I broke down and sobbed tears that evidently were waiting for just the right moment and just the right arms. Looking back on the experience, I am quite sure that she was a strategically planted angel.

How To Buy A Property With No Money Down

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to get all the good real estate deals? Does it seem unfair that creating wealth appears to be for the rich only? Well I have some great news for you. ?No money down? deals on real estate can be done by everyone, when you learn the skills.

Buying a property with no money down is a mindset. The deals are not advertised as ?no money down? deals, they need to be constructed to be this way. And yes, anyone can do it, it just takes some education and a little confidence.

All real estate deals need to be seen as an opportunity and they may need to be worked a little. You may need to invest some time, face some challenges and grow and develop in your financial education to be able to make these opportunities in to reality. I will give you a few pointers as to how to work a real estate opportunity into a ?no money down? deal.

Firstly, don?t always believe what the real estate agents say, they will often tell you what can?t be done rather than what can. Let?s face it, most of them are not seasoned property investors.

One simple way to get this dreamy ?no money down deal? is to find a property that is worth investing in. Get a couple of valuations done on this property by different valuers. (A trick here is to get a few valuations done, they will all come back differently and then you can choose the highest one.) Make sure you do this BEFORE you buy the property. If the valuation comes in higher than the purchase price, then you can get finance based on the valuation, rather than the purchase price. Now a good rule of thumb when investing and building a property portfolio, is to get your properties financed with the highest LVR (loan to value ratio). Aim for 95% if possible. This will help you buy more properties and get your portfolio off to a flying start.

Some quick numbers to help you understand this concept: Say the real estate agent was asking $180,000 for the property. You got a couple of valuations that came back at $180,000, $190,000 and $200,000. (This is actually possible). Assume that you can get a loan for 95% of the valuation price i.e. $190,000. Therefore, you are paying $180,000 for the property but are able to get a $190,000 loan. You could even use some of this extra to fund your next deposit. Easy!

In Australia, and you?ll need to check the rules in other countries, but the big 4 banks use their own valuers, so you may not have the luxury of choosing a valuation. They often value it lower too, to ?cover their buts?. You will have to use a second tier lender, but that often isn?t a bad thing, in fact I use them more regularly than the main banks.

You could also make a contract subject to a valuation coming back at a certain price. If it doesn?t come back at that price, then you have the option of bailing out, but if you like the property, then you could ask the vendor to drop their price so that you still purchase for ?no money down? e.g. purchase price is $190,000 and you want a valuation of $230,000. If it only comes back at $198,000 then you can ask them to drop the price to say $160,000.

When purchasing a property, the finance is an extremely important part of the overall transaction. It is important to understand the system and work within it. There are often different ways of structuring things so it is advisable to get a broker (specifically an investment specialist e.g. Investor Finance), that can help you get creative with your finance deals.

You could also ask for vendor finance. If they can?t finance the whole property i.e. they may need the money for something else, then at least ask if they can leave in the balance of what you can?t get from the bank. For example, if you want to purchase a property for $500,000 but the bank will only lend you $400,000, then ask if the vendor will take a second mortgage over the property, and leave $100,000 there for you. This would create a ?no money down deal? for you.

A great tip for investing in real estate in general is to not fall in love with the property, but fall in love with the deal. Look also for MOTIVATED SELLERS e.g. divorced, bankrupt, lost job etc. For some places you can put in a crazy offer and then just keep your eye on it. If the property is still on the market in 3 months, then call them again and re-offer the crazy offer. It won?t seem so crazy to them now. You can then keep the property, rent it out or resell it or do a ?rent to buy? (see www.toolsforwealth.com for a product review of this brilliant strategy).

So in conclusion, you need to be CREATIVE for ?no money down deals? on real estate, but they are there. You just need to be able to see the opportunity and do things a little differently.

Just about all of us wonder about the day we'll pick up the keys to our own home. Buying your first house is actually the goal for million of people worldwide. Being able to afford your own house is an extremely important mission most people work to accomplish throughout their lifetime. But apart from being an investment and providing security to a family or an individual, buying property, in the form of a house, can be a tremendous experience for the person that decides to commit time and effort in finding and bidding for the house of his or her dreams.

Whether you like big contemporary designs or town houses with tiny back yards, the idea of owning a home is definitely attractive. But many people don't realize that home ownership doesn't have to be so far off in the future. Although the actual process of buying a house can seem really scary because most people think about the tons of paperwork involved, and the use of a lot of vocabulary that sounds like a foreign language, postponing your dream can be not such a wise choice after all. Although a lot of people do not realize that they've got the financial resources to buy, or may have reasons they think they should continue renting, if you decide to invest time to research thoroughly your choices, hopefully the buying process will seem a little less intimidating.

But first of all you should think if you have enough reasons to wanting to buy your own immovable property. In fact, buying a house puts your money to work for you. Property values are on the rise at a rate faster than most interest-bearing savings accounts, making a home a great investment. Also, while rents continue heading skyward, mortgage payments usually stay constant. That means your housing expenses will be stable, while your income will naturally increase over time. In short, you can stabilize your monthly expenses and put the money you pay in rent back into your own pocket.

Moreover, the interest you pay on your mortgage loan is tax deductible which can result in huge savings on your taxes. This is especially true during the early stages of home ownership, when the creditors require you to pay the most interest. Furthermore, even the interest rates of your house mortgage are kept in low levels (around 7 percent) for a fixed-rate of a 30-year loan, transforming your home loan to your least expensive one.

Finally, the biggest bonus of buying your own property is the fact that unlike rent which is money down the drain, your mortgage payment goes toward your home equity. In fact, this comes back to you either as an emergency line of credit, or in case you decide to sell your property later, you have not lost your money since that equity is returned to you in full and can be used for the next house down-payment.

A familar problem for everyone. Is ther now a solution?

Lost & Found for the 21st Century
In todays hectic world more and more people are turning to those handy gadgets and mobile products that can be taken with them anywhere they go. The more things consumers own, the more they're prone to lose them. This in mind we actually went out and tested a new service on the UK market from Want it Bak.
Lets see what Londoners are really made of.

We left a Palm m130 PDA on the Jubilee Line of the London Underground, a Sony Ericcson Mobile on the number 15 bus route, a Blackberry email on the move gizmo down in a local pub in South West London and a rucksack sitting in Starbucks Chancery Lane area. Lastly we left a digital camera sitting out in the open in Hyde park. Not the easiest thing leaving items lying about in this highly security conscious world we live in these days.

Here in the 21st century our lives have become more and more reliant on mobile items. As we go through our days, keeping a mental log of everything we have and where we have it becomes more and more difficult. It is inevitable that some things get lost. In fact as stated in a recent research Around 62,000 mobile phones were left in London taxis during the last six months. That's an average three phones per taxi, according to a survey of licensed London cabbies by the Taxi Newspaper and Pointsec Mobile Technologies. Absent minded and drunken travellers also forgot 4,000 laptops and 5,000 PDAs when exiting cabs.

So what can we do to have give us some reassurance that we have at least a chance of getting our valuable or even sentimental items back.

In steps lost and found for the 21st century in the form of Want it Bak. The service is based around the belief that most people are actually honest and will do the right thing if a method is offered to them. This feel good factor is enhanced by the added incentive of a reward for doing the right thing.

Anything you can imagine, mobile phones, keys, cameras, PDAs, laptops, binoculars, backpacks, passports, briefcases, wallets and purses, golf clubs, power tools, textbooks, credit cards, cheque books... you get the picture, it can all be protected using their simple system.

How does Want it Bak work? Simple. You purchase a range of security tags each with their own unique id number. You register them with Want it Bak and thats it. If you ever lose the item and someone finds it they contact Want it Bak directly using their website or their 0800 number and they arrange a courier to pick it up and return it to the owner for a small admin charge.

One of the best things about this service is the confidential nature of it. The Finder never knows who the owner is and vice versa. Reassuring for owners of expensive items, they can now safely retrieve their possessions.

It's a great incentive for people to do the right thing, says Chris Cameron from Want it Bak, Our research shows that most people are actually honest and the biggest barrier they have to returning items is the hassle of finding out who it belongs to, arranging delivery or pick up, getting the time to drop the item off at the local police station. Now they don't have to do anything except ring us or visit our website, and they get a Reward for their troubles.

The Finders themselves are offered a basic reward of 10 gift pack of Want it Bak Labels. Additionally the finders may also receive gift vouchers, shop discounts, trial packs and much more. Customers may also offer an optional CASH reward to Finders as a thank you to the person for taking the time to contact Want it Bak.

Want it Bak organises Couriers to pick up and delivery directly to you your lost item. As a customer of Want it Bak you are only charged if an item is lost. No ongoing monthly subscriptions or fees. Just a basic Administration charge when an item is found of 25 which includes next day courier delivery UK wide. A small price to pay for the return of your personal items.

This service is invaluable say Russell Lewis of Chelsea, an actual benefactor having signed up from the start. A few weeks back while travelling home in a Black Cab I left my portfolio containing vital customer information and demonstration CD-ROMs. It would of taken me weeks, if ever at all, to redo everything. Before the end of the day Want it Bak had taken a call and I had arranged for it to be sent straight back to me. This is an amazing service, it was all so easy.

So how did we go with our test?
Well Want it Bak claim an 80% return rate, which works out to about 5 out of 6 items. It seems Londoners are more honest that we thought. The camera was found by someone in Hyde Park and within the hour Want it Bak had taken the call and arranged return. When originally registering this item we had offered 50 cash reward to the finder.

The finder Sam, an office worker was very impressed I was out walking at lunch time and came across the camera just sitting there. Having personally lost my camera while holidaying in Greece earlier in the year I knew how annoyed the owner would be. The Want it Bak labels were visible enough and probably prompted me more to the right thing than if they hadnt been there. The whole process only took me a couple of minutes when I got back to the office. Want it Bak arranged a time for the courier to come and they picked it up from me at work. Few days later my reward and 50 cheque turned up in the mail. Fantastic.

The PDA & Blackberry were also found by good Samaritans and returned. In fact the only thing still outstanding was the rucksack left in a Starbucks, strangely enough the least expensive of the 5 items. No doubt the cause of a police call out during these troubled times. The mobile phone turned up a couple of days later. No bad 4 out 5. Well done London.

Like most things these days there are no guarantees of course, but just the knowledge that for a small price you can have an additional type of insurance that works when you need it to.

When good color goes badGranny's Mettle

Even with the popularity of digital technology, and the availability of equipment and software associated with it, many printing firms are still slow to make the changes needed to upgrade their business. More so when it comes to digital photography.

More often than not, most typical printing outfits are no set up to process digital files that bad results do happen. Mistakes are often made such as conversions of files to CMYK doing irreparable damage to the images, and the operator trying to rectify his mistakes by fixing it with a series of layers, selections, masks and adjustments. These further aggravates the already damaged file by introducing new problems like banding, and colors that look muddy, desaturated, neutralized, and unappealing.

But this situation can be avoided and great results can be achieved. If you feel that you are not getting the best output for your digital camera images, here are a few key tips for you:

Tip 1: PROFILES

It's a must to ask your chosen printer whether they honor embedded RGB profiles. This would mean that they have the capacity to handle RGB color separation work. If they don't want to get your RGB file, or they seem like they don't care or understand what you're saying, then it's time for you to go to another printer.

Tip 2: CALIBRATED

Remember to use shops and facilities that regularly calibrate their displays. This can be done with a hardware calibration system.

Tip 3: INK JET PRINTS

To avoid second-guessing where the mistakes rest, it is better to just provide your printer with prints, especially to alert operators to potential problems.

Tip 4: SHARPNESS

Although well-sharpened images look a bit intimidating when viewed in Photoshop, especially at 1:1, your image will print well. Great sharpness is required when you're dealing with coarser screens and uncoated stocks.

Tip 5: FOR POSITION ONLY

Layouts showing FPO images cropped and scaled will help printers provide optimum and sharpened result to your image.

Tip 6: COLOR CHECKER

With each new set up for color reference, one printer suggests that you ask your photographer to do a shot of his Gretag MacBeth Color Checker target.

Tip 7: RAW FILES

Ask your photographer if he or she can provide you with digital camera raw files. These raw files will provide you with the greatest latitude and quality in the hands of skilled operators.

The best way to go about this problem is to simply deal with printing companies whose prepress staffs understand the basics of color management. People who know and are experts on the advantages of digital raw camera files, and explain them to you when asked.

If not, then it's better for you to change now.

Barbara's Ovarian Cancer Story Part III

Happy Thanksgiving 2006

Barbara's continued Ovarian Cancer Story:

It?s been two years since my last article and I have a lot to share with you. Presently, I?m sitting in my cozy little office/guest room, in my cozy house on Whidbey Island, Washington. Rosie-the-cat is reclining on the windowsill and we?re both staring out at the wind-whipped trees and billowing, dark clouds being blown across the sky. It?s very beautiful and I?m very grateful to be here!

At my last writing, I had just completed eight cycles of heavy-duty chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer and was in remission, ready to celebrate a very special Thanksgiving with my family. (See articles 1 and 2 on the ?articles? page at www.dstress.com.) Those holidays were wonderful. I felt healthy, had hair, was working and exercising and planning my retirement date, (September 2005), and subsequent move to our home in Washington. Being an inveterate planner/list-maker and worrier, I organized the retirement and move to within an inch of its life. I knew when my last day of work would be; how much vacation time I had on the books and what day we?d be packing up. John made his plans to close his office and relocate his business. We were done with cancer and ready to move on! Well, as we all know, life has a way of not always going according to plan. We were about to be thrown a real curve-ball.

In March, we took a great trip to Arizona to celebrate my birthday. On the drive from Phoenix to Bisbee to visit friends, we marveled at the lush green desert, abloom with flowers after recent rains. Locals told us that this beauty lasted about two weeks before fading to gold and brown, and people had learned not to take it for granted. Well, that?s true about anything, isn?t it?

The day after we returned from our vacation, a message on the answering machine said a new suspicious mass had been found on my most recent CT scan, the one I had done before we left for Arizona. I was devastated and furious and terrified! I ranted and I raved and I screamed, scaring John and the cat. What about my plans? My retirement? Moving to my new home? What about my life? I don?t want more surgery, more chemo! I don?t want to lose my hair again! I feel fine and healthy- how can this be happening AGAIN? I had taken for granted that the first surgery and chemo had worked and I was cured. But in fact, 70-90% of people have recurrence at some point in time. I just didn?t think I would be one of them. I had to completely let go of my carefully orchestrated master-plan and face this challenge head on.

June found me back at UCSF for major surgery for removal of a tumor that was very close, but not on, the liver. Because ovarian cancer cells tend to migrate to the spleen and gallbladder, they also removed those organs. I was lucky to have access to one of the best surgeons in the country and post-op reports stated that they had completely removed all the cancer! I used all the same tools to prepare pre op and postoperatively as I had for my first surgery and my recovery was good. I was home in five days and back to work in five weeks. I started chemo in July.

On December 1, 2005, I had my last chemo cycle. Other than a very low blood count (I was very anemic and my white count was very low), I tolerated the treatments fairly well. Acupuncture, visualization, exercise and supplements all played an important part in my work to stay as strong and healthy as possible. My hair thinned considerably, but I didn?t have to wear wigs or cover-ups. With the particular drug regimen I was on, there is a 60% chance of hair loss. Before treatments started, I researched the web for any products that might minimize this side effect. I found a product called E.V.P.3 Chemaid. The website is:www.evp3.com. It provides good information and research so I decided to give it a try. I don?t know if it was the chemaid, the different type of drugs regimen and dosage, supplements or all of the above, but I kept the majority of my hair. Seems like such a minor thing when you are fighting for your life. Yet sometimes those small things make a difference in quality of life. I felt that I looked healthier and ?normal? and that translated into not feeling like a cancer patient.

The new year brought new resolution to finally make our plans to retire and move. My labs were good, my scans were clear and we moved to Whidbey Island in May. We?ve been involved in projects ever since.

First on the agenda was painting the inside and the outside of the house. Just as John and I have been a good team in my healing process, we?ve made a good team in working on our home. And it?s been fun! We dug a garden using picks and shovels. We built planter boxes and created a Zen rock garden; we yanked out a huge juniper bush and planted roses and dahlias. At the end of the day we collapsed into recliners with such a good feeling of accomplishment. I?ve never used my muscles like that before. I?d be exhausted by 8pm-it was such a good kind of tired. One of my favorite activities was sitting in the dirt, pulling weeds. The sun on my shoulders, eagles soaring overhead, the smell of earth and flowers and growing things became a huge part of my healing process. I visualized my immune system plucking out and ?disappearing? any unhealthy cells from my body with each weed I pulled. Working in the garden has become a wonderful meditation for me. I clear my mind and totally focus on the task at hand. Learning how to live in the moment is an ongoing lesson, and I have to continually find a balance between artful planning and my natural tendency to organize the future. I?ve learned a greater appreciation of each sunrise and sunset. I notice the rhythm of my breathing and muscle movement when I walk and hike. I take time to pick up interesting bits of wood from the beach and decorate my garden with them. I revel in the love of my family and dear friends. I consciously practice NOT taking anything for granted and I try to live each moment joyfully. I have a favorite mantra that I recite to myself on my daily walks. ?thank you for all the blessings I enjoy; thank you for my health today; thank you for my family and friends; thank you for allowing me to spend time in this beautiful place; thank you for the gift of life! And wouldn?t it be very, very nice if abundance cascades into my life and into those I love-abundance of health-physical, emotional and spiritual; and financial abundance.

I wish I could say that with all the meditation and mantras, I now lead a joyful, positive life. The truth is that I have my ups and downs; my incredibly joyful moments along with times of fear, sadness and anger. I go into worry-mode when it?s time for lab work and waiting for results. I get fearful about any new ache or pain (does this mean the cancer is back?) I vacillate between should I go ahead and spend money on redoing the kitchen now or keep that money in savings a little longer. Sometimes I feel caught between living in the moment and wanting to plan future projects for next year, two years from now, five years from now. And I still get angry that this happened to me, even though I?ve learned many lessons in the past few years. One of the main lessons I?m starting to grasp is that life is an act of faith. When I was planting the garden, I mostly put in vegetables and flowers that would reward me with bouquets and crops right away. My act of faith in the future was planting a cherry tree. My daily prayer is that I?ll be around to enjoy the blossoms and pluck the cherries.

This year we will celebrate Thanksgiving in our new home. We?ll share our gratitude with friends and family; we?ll feast and watch football; and we?ll toast to health, happiness and prosperity. The garden hibernates now beneath a blanket of red and gold leaves. The tulips, daffodils and hyacinths I planted last week rest and wait until it?s their time to burst forth into colorful splendor. And I rest, write, clean closets and enjoy indoor projects as I wait for spring, when I?ll burst out to nurture and be nurtured in my garden.

Here?s to rainy days and warm fires NOW and digging in the dirt in the FUTURE.

Happy Thanksgiving

Pune Property : India's Best Buy

Real Estate prices have been galloping in India over the last few years.

Since 2003 prices in Bangalore have been steadily rising upwards. Property purchased at 400Rs per sq feet has risen to 1800-2000Rs per sq feet within a few years. This is a 400-500% increase in price. Similarly for Noida. A plot for constructing an independent house is not available in Noida today for less than a crore . Why does all this make Pune property attractive?

Pune has been in the Real Estate news for a little over a year. So it's essentially been overlooked vis-a-vis hot IT markets like Bangalore and Noida. Real estate prices are still realistic in Pune. In the Eastern suburbs, you can still buy plots in Kondhva for about 600 Rs. Builders like Nyati, Cloud 9, Clover Village are the major sellers for plots and row houses in this area.

In the Western Suburbs Hinjewadi is the place where all the Real Estate action is happening. This is mainly because of the IT Park situated here. IT majors Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant are already there. New players have been coming in every month. This has resulted in a boom for rental accommodation in this area and also surrounding areas like Aundh, Baner, Bhugaon, Pune University.

A definite lower cost of living, fantastic weather, a small insular city which makes travelling easy, an extremely young upbeat crowd all add to the Pune charm. Pune is just a 3 hours drive over the expressway to Bombay and is well connected by air, road and rail. IT companies are moving to Pune since it's being seen as an extremely 'livable' city. The best property all over India

The hottest tip on getting a web site listed quickly by Yahoo Inktomi MSN FAST Altavista and Hot

Anne-Marie KillerEvery webmaster knows that the free search engines are a major source of traffic.

They also know that applying all the SEO techniques in the world will not in itself get their web pages spidered, indexed and listed. Yes, sure, a perfect page, once indexed and listed will surely rank high for its keywords but unless it is found by the spiders, it is pretty useless.

It is no secret that the process of a web page being found by the spiders can be helped by placing links to that web site on other web sites (e.g. by doing a links exchange with other web sites, by putting one's URL in one's signature file when posting on a forum, by writing and submitting articles for free distribution and placing one's URL in the author's resource block etc.) All of this will surely work but it can take months before anything happens. The webmaster has no option but to be patient and wait...and wait...and wait.

Now there is something very easy and very effective one can do to speed up this process. Actually, using this method, will get a web page indexed and listed in less than 48 hours. And the whole process is controlled by the webmaster. It is easy, fast in terms of setting it all up and what's more it is free!

Here is what one does:
Go to http://www.blogger.com and sign up for a new account (free - they even host the blog on their server at no cost)
Give your blog a name.
Navigate to 'Settings' and then choose 'Site Feed'
Check that the 'Publish Site Feed' option is set to 'Yes'
Copy the 'Site Feed URL' to the clip board (you can paste is some where .. you're going to use it when you've set up your my.yahoo account)
Save your changes
Navigate to 'Posting' and create your first entry.
What should you write? Anything, actually - your words do not make that much of a difference. what is important is that you add the URL of each page you want listed to the blog. Remember to add them as live links (to enable all the spiders to follow them!) As a suggestion, why not make your blog a log of this experiment?
Publish your blog by hitting the 'Publish' button.

Sorry, we're not done yet...

Now you have to go to http://www.yahoo.com and open a My Yahoo! account. Just follow Yahoo's very clear instructions.
Click on the 'Add Content' button.
Click the 'Add RSS by URL' link.
Paste the 'Site Feed URL' you've copied earlier in the 'URL' field and hit 'Add'.
You have just added your site's news feed to your My Yahoo! account.

Mmm, you don't know what a news feed is? I've written a document explaining it all. You can read it here: http://perfect-party-ideas.blogspot.com/2005/01/what-is-orange-xml-or-rss-icon-i-see.html

Last step: go to http://www.pingomatic.com
Enter your blog's name and URL (similar to mine: http://www.perfect-party-ideas.blogspot.com)
Select all the services to ping (of which My Yahoo! is one) and click the 'Submit Pings' button.
Navigate back to your My Yahoo! account and refresh your browser.
Scroll to the bottom of the page where you'll see your blog's feed appearing.

Your job is done - the spider bait is ready!

Now for a bit of excitement. Start watching your web site's stat's to see how quickly the spiders find their way to your web site. You could even throw a free stats counter on your blog and watch the spiders visiting your blog.

Next step: Play log-and-ping every day or so. More often if you have the time! Whenever you feel like it, add another posting to your blog. Remember to throw in some links to specific pages on your web site.

Let me know how successful you were - use my 'Contact Me' page on my web site.

USABILITY

Usability is what makes your WS pleasant to deal with.
While everyone defines personally for her(him)self how to
make design nice to look at, memorable (in respect to
branding) and serve customer/business needs in the best way
possible, the technical side of usability can and should be
corrected using the standard requirements.

SOURCE CODE OPTIMIZATION

Firstly about the four problems that come to my mind with
dirty HTML source code:

1. Potential cross-browser conflicts as some particular
useless Tags (a piece of HTML source code) may be neglected
by one browser but create some visual errors, when viewed in
other browser.
2. The more useless HTML Tags web-page has, the more drive
space it occupies.
3. As the derivative of the previous problem, the more size
of that web-page, the longer it takes to visitor to load and
view it.
4. Search engines like plain and clear textual information
for easy search and scan. By having a lot of useless pieces
of HTML code, you prevent SE spiders to proper index your
web-pages. The result is the obvious decreasing of your
Search Engine rankings. That is why Meta Tags correcting is
not the only thing you should pay attention to.

Statistic shows that more then 85% of all WSs online demands
graphics or HTML code optimization. That is actually a
common problem, the core of which lies in the use of highly
popular home web editors like FrontPage or other.

The winner among the worst is well-known Netscape
Composer, due to the extremely dirty HTML code it
generates while editing old or creating new web-pages. If
you have ever used Composer and no one have cleaned those
web-pages afterwards, they definitely contain a lot of HTML
garbage.

Based on my own experience every 50Kb Netscape Composer's
web-page can be easily optimized to the 40Kb file size or
less, as a simple result of the deleting junk HTML tags. If
you implement Cascade Style Sheet and HTML compressor you
will get the same, but clean & shiny web-page totaling
25-30Kb (40-50% space savings) with the enhanced visual
effects.

The example above shows saving on a single web-page, but if
we speak in terms of 50-60 pages WS, that occupy (without
graphics) 3-5Mb of hard drive space, the potential savings
as a result of HTML optimization may reach 1-3Mb.
So if you are experiencing the lack of hard drive space with
your hosting provider, the solution to that problem lies in
simple WS optimization. It doesn't only save a lot of space,
but, as we know, eliminates potential cross-browser
mistakes, helps SE spiders to properly index your web-pages
and make your visitors' surfing more quick and smooth and
therefore pleasant.

GRAPHICS OPTIMIZATION

When we speak about poorly optimized graphics we get two
problems: more occupied space and worse load time. Given
that the first obstacle may be overcome by acquiring
personal server with several Gigabytes of hard drive space,
the letter problem will continue to exist as the majority of
web visitors have low speed dial-up connection.

To make your graphics optimized on the basic level, you
should save it in the proper graphic format. Many popular
pictures of eBook covers can be easily optimized simply by
re-saving .JPG format into .GIF or vice versa depending on
particular file. That tactic alone can bring 15Kb file to
occupy 7-10Kb in the matter of 2 min.

The basic math shows that 10 optimized pictures (without
HTML optimization) on a web-page are capable to decrease the
overall size of it from 120Kb to 70Kb with no visual loss in
the quality of picture. Are you aware of statistics how many
visitors leave your site just because they are tired to wait
until all pictures load? It doesn't mean that you have to
simply delete these pictures completely as some people
suggest, what it does mean is that they are better to be
optimized because in case with eBook covers, they proved to
triple selling potential and their absence will be hardly
compensated by new visitors.

To choose the right format, follow one simple rule:
If the target picture is more likely to be a photo, with
many colors, unshaped objects and different lights, this
file should be saved in .JPG format. If, on the contrary, a
picture is more likely to consists of a number of vector
objects like circles, triangles, squares, doesn't have too
many colors or similar to some drown comics, then .GIF
format is the best to use.

If it is hard to determine, then save it in both formats and
compare quality/size ratio. Not much work, big effect.

Having semi- or fully professional graphic editors will
allow you to get even better results by selecting
compression rate, smoothness, sharpness of edges if we
speak about .JPG format; or palette, colors, rate of
transparency, animation features etc. if we deal with .GIF
format.

Today's technological opportunities are vast, so it is you
to decide how deeply you want to dive in.

CROSS-BROWSER &
SCREEN RESOLUTION OPTIMIZATION

The numbers are the following:
- 2% have outdated 14'' with 640*480 pixels in width and
height respectively.
- 49% of web-surfers use 15 monitors with preferable
standard screen resolution of 800*600 pixels;
- 45% surf the web with 17 monitors with reasonable
1024*768 resolution;
- 4% of users enjoy 18-19 monitors with 1152*864-1280*1024
screen settings.

What should these numbers tell you? The very simple thing
if you created the WS on your 15 monitor, don't assume that
it will look as good on other monitors as on yours.

Let me draw several notes here about the tendency that
monitor market will follow in the nearest future.
First is that all 14 monitors are gradually going to their
deserved eternal rest. Even the share of notebooks with 15
TFT screens growing exponentially. There are even several
new versions with 16 active matrixes. Don't also forget
that notebooks' 14 TFT screen have almost the same diagonal
inches as usual 15 CRT (Cathode-ray tube) monitors.
Secondly, the number of 15 monitors is also decreasing, due
to growing number of 17 monitor owners that is the third
point.

One sentence conclusion of the above statistics is that your
WS should look fine, at least, under 800*600 and 1024*768
resolutions. This is a market demand to your WS and, as we
know, you better not joke with The Market.

Without going deep into theory, there are two ways:
- more simple;
- more complex.

Both correct, both satisfy the demand above but the letter
way, given it is more complex, usually perfectly fits any
screen resolution, whether it is 14 or 21 and more
favorable to WS space usage.

The easier way would be to make the borders of your web-page
(tables of your web-page) to be fixed with certain number of
pixels.
The most popular settings are something between 650 to 750
pixels just to fit that 800 pixels width screen under the
most popular 15 monitor 800*600 resolution. If you go that
way your web-page will have the same look under different
sets of resolutions.
If we try to see it at 14 monitor with 640 pixels in width,
the unpleasant horizontal scroller would appear because our
fixed setting in 700 pixels is wider then 640 and it just
won't fit in it. If, on the other hand, we look at our
imaginable site under 1152*864 or 1280*1024, it will look
too narrow, as it will occupy only 60% of the screen width
(our 700 in comparison to 1200 screen pixels width).
Why does this designing way simpler? You just won't have any
problems building it: no need for resolution or
cross-browser optimization, as fixed pixels are read
correctly under almost every browser.

The more complex way is to have width of one or several HTML
tables columns on your site to be set in percents like 75%
or 100% and, therefore, poses the ability to automatically
broaden or narrow according to the specified percents,
depending on what screen resolution the site is being viewed
under.
If you have 600*800 screen settings (the screen width is 600
pixels) and one of the table width of your site is set to
100%, then this particular table along with all included
text and graphic will narrow to 600 pixels, if we set the
monitor to 1200*1024 resolution, i.e. having 1200 pixels
wide, our site's table will stretch to the specified 100%,
in that case, 1200 pixels.
That's why it looks more attractive under different
resolutions but demands additional optimization, including
cross-browser optimization, as Netscape Navigator browser
has some problems with proper interpreting of percent
settings in multi column tables. Which way to choose depends
on the tasks and your preference.

I wish you endless creativity and no more then 70Kb per page

Web-site designing Pillars (part1)Pavel LenshinWEB-SITE DESIGNING PILLIARS (part1)

It is a hot opinion that it's the words that sell, not a
design and that you should invest all your money into
writing a good sales copy and what is left (if anything)
into web-site. I can give you 99 out of 100 that authors of
these claims are copywriters, web-designers usually don't
write articles. It is like asking football player what game
he enjoys more: football or hockey? :0)

I don't want to argue that statement about the importance of
copywriting, on the contrary, I think that it is totally
true, but under one condition your Web-Site (WS hereafter)
is already implied to make your visitors feel, at least,
comfortable.

It could never be counted, how many times I closed down the
browser without reading a single word, just because of the
amateurish and clumsy look those WSs had.

No need to emphasize on importance of the professional WS.
It is obvious, at the same time you won't read there, that
web-design is everything and that professional sales letter
or text message is nothing, because it is like answering the
question what is better to have skin or heart cancer? To
my mind, it is better to be totally healthy.

Business WS usually plays the role of virtual office, shop,
informational dep., marketing dep. and service dep. It is a
main representative and the core of your business the
final proof, the image of your company is based on.

-----What it is all about-----

The target is set to make your WS as good as it can
possibly be. Here I pointed the crucial pillars of designing
a professional looking WS. You will not find there basic
HTML teaching or how to use particular web-editor. The
knowledge of HTML will help, but is not compulsory, as
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editors will make all
HTML coding work ehind the scene for you.

You require general understanding of what HTML is and
ability to use one or several WYSIWYG web-editors, that is
three hour learning process. The feeling of style and taste
is also advisable; otherwise you will have to consult a
designer.

The problem with design How to.. is that WS design is 90%
creative work, where is no two identical WS (unless copied),
that is why there cannot be any step-by-step study, the same
way there is no step-by-step study on how to paint a
masterpiece paint.

What we can teach is how to hold a brush, but it is you,
who should paint Mona Lisa and become Leonardo da Vinci.

-----What your WS should look like?-----

+ Stylish. Consider it as an exterior and interior of your
whole off-line business premises, starting from hall
(main-index web-page) and ending with your personal office
(about me web-page). It has to have its unique feel and
style. Don't also forget about branding features your WS
represent.

+ Clear structure. Imagine a shopper who wants to make a
purchase at your offline store, but in order to enter it, he
has to go through warehouse, service department and all
kinds of office premises. Don't allow your web visitor feel
like that shopper.

+ Harmonically allocated design elements like graphics and
text. The WS is united entity and your brand. Every element
on the WS is to be blend with exterior, no separated
elements or graphics like a number of flashy banners.

+ High usability standards and complete WS optimization
including clear HTML code and optimized web graphics that
are similar to clear shop. The more dirt your web-pages
contains, the more time it will take to load them, the more
potential errors it may show in different browsers, and the
harder it will be for Search Engine spiders to index your
WS. We will discuss these issues later on.
Pay also attention to broken links, as it is similar to wall
behind the door of your off-line shop. Let your visitors
find good resources with your help, rather than an Error
404 Page not found.

+ Absence of grammatical errors. It concerns grammatical
correctness of textual information. The importance of
correct grammar is clear, no one wants to deal with
uneducated people, especially if they represent businesses.

-----PILLARS OF PROPER DESIGNING-----

TASKS DEFINING.

You next step after setting up the appropriate web-design
program is to set the list of tasks your site should solve.
You should answer the following questions:

1. Are your WS a sales letter or a content rich project?
Depending on your answer you have or don't have to pay
attention to the structure and flexibility of navigational
menu, as it may bring new challenges, as your content-rich
WS will grow. Consider to reserve WS space to future
informational blocks like announcements, exclusive offers,
visitors voting, polls, that you may like to include
sometime in future. Don't make the page layout look too
tight, as you will require redesigning the whole page just
to insert a small table for visitors' voting.

2. What kind of integrated services you are planning to use?
Whether it is going to be shopping cart, discussion board,
chat or separate section totally devoted to the WS
newsletter, it should fit overall site layout and design.
Think in prospective, as it will take several hours now, but
avoid several weeks of headache in the future. Make sure
that the foundation of your online empire will bear all
possible additional storeys, without need of demolishing the
whole uilding and strengthening the foundation.

3. What market sector your WS belongs to in general and what
product/service you are going to offer in particular? If
your WS is an entertainment portal, full of flash games,
casino offers and reviews of upcoming PC games, it is
obvious that design and layout plays extremely important
role as a representative of more than 50% of all
information. Be sure that boring graphics in that case would
cut the roots of your WS growth. If, on the other hand, you
are working at corporate business-to-business online sector
(B2B), there is absolutely no need in complex graphics
elements or flashy stars in the top-left corner. Online
businesses always experience lack of time, therefore, they
need quick answers of who you are, what you are and why are
you, rather than waiting till your welcome 300Kb flash clip
will load. The answer to efficient finding partners among
businesses is textual and to the point information that is
easy to access and that is, usually, represented in business
white-gray-black color scheme.

VISUALLY FINISHED.

Anybody can do that, although the broader imagination you
have, the simpler it will be. What you need is comfortable
seat, paper and a pen. Put your feet on the table, close
your eyes and imagine your WS.

Let me only tell you one of my favorite jokes concerning
technique mentioned above.

There was a group of foreign visitors coming to see a very
prosperous and profitable company.
At the end of their excursion one of the visitors asked
their guide:
You know, your company is really perfect, with the best
technology I've ever seen, everybody is working very hard,
but, tell me, who is that man in the biggest room on the top
floor doing nothing but relaxing on the soft armchair with
his feet crossed on the table, sipping Cola and listening to
music?
Oh, that man came up with the idea last year, that earned us
$1.000.000, and, as far as I remember, during that time he
was also sipping Cola with his feet on the table.

So follow this man and don't allow anybody disturb you
during this work!

Don't make any mistakes about it. You may be surprised, but
it is the most challenging and crucial part of your WS
creation. The brighter efforts you put into your paper, the
more beneficial result you will get. No need for degree in
painting, just basic elements on paper as a background of
your future WS building, the rest in mind.

Don't be afraid to experiment! It's a pleasant time spending
anyway. Remember all great works of all times are
considered to be masterpieces, only because they, firstly,
perfectly reflect the depth of their creators' souls and,
secondly, they are unique in their nature. There is no
masterpiece based on well-known standards. They are good in,
let's say, decreasing production costs, but they are not
welcomed in the art creation process, which the design
surely is.

On the other hand, you should always keep in mind that the
experiment ends exactly when the web-surfer disappointment
starts.

ELEMENTS.

The key point, while visualizing your full color WS, is to
decide what and where will you place 3 basic elements:
1. Header.
2. Navigational menu.
3. Space for main text.

The following list represents possible WS elements that you
consider to have as a result of previously conducted Task
Defining. Designer should also reserve a proper place and
harmonically blend them with the rest of WS elements:
1. Banner ads;
2. Menu mirror at the bottom;
3. Additional text for news column, announcements,
testimonials etc.;
4. Email forms, visitor polls, questionnaire etc.;
5. Any other items you consider to include.

It must be stressed that all the main elements of the WS as
well as any other WS items, which should be added at your
sole discretion ought to be put in mind while visualizing,
and therefore written down on paper to be sure there is no
forgotten element left behind. If it occurs at the next
stage you will have to start from the very beginning as
there is no way to move further. So don't quadruple your
work with your own hands. Make sure you have put every
present into the box you want to receive on Christmas. ;0)

WS STRUCTURE AND LAYOUT

Draw the scheme of your WS structure. How you are planning
to arrange, link and create logically relations between
sections or stand alone web-pages. It is easy to navigate
four-page sales letter WS, but everything changes when we
are exploring 100 spontaneously linked WS. It is easier to
get out of Sahara desert rather than to find what you need.

Your navigational structure could be linear or functional.
There are unlimited number of variations, just pay close
attention and follow one simple rule:
The more difficult for you to write a WS structure, the
more difficult it will be for potential user to navigate
it!

It doesn't depend on number of web pages rather then logical
sequence and connection of different parts or sections of
your site.

COLORS

I've also read numerous times, that Headlines is what the
visitor sees first, when comes to your site. Wrong! The
first thing a surfer sees on the WS, while it loads, is the
color and, sometimes, design appearance. Don't underestimate
the importance of color influence. With the help of color
play you can easily create a feeling of excitement or grief
even before s/he will see the first letter of your Headline.

One note should be also mentioned: try, if possible, to
avoid main colors green, red, yellow, blue. They are very
Day-Glo and very annoying while using them in the company
Logo sometimes considered to be enticing.

Don't use aggressive color scheme, make it to be polite
to your customer's perception. By doing so, you don't, at
least, make your visitor be irritated. Just experiment with
hues and brightness and you will get the color you need.
Follow this rule if you are not intend to sell clown noses
in the circus tent. :0)

Text color is also ought to match the background color.
Please, avoid red text on green color, dark blue on black
etc.

(to be continued...)
